A Better Edge Christmas Light Set up Installation

What is the difference between C-9, C-6, and 5mm holiday lights? (Not knowing could ruin your holiday display)

Choose the best holiday light option for your Colorado Springs home! C-9, C-6, or 5mm?

In 2019, you have many options for your holiday decorations. Perhaps too many!

You’ve seen the terms LED, and C-9, and 5mm. But do you know what these terms mean? Do you know which lights will look best on your Colorado Springs home?

Choosing the wrong type of light could ruin the look of your holiday light display. It’s crucial to understand what each type looks like and what it’s used for.

A Better Edge offers C-9, C-6, and 5mm lights with our holiday light installations. We will cover these light options in this post. For the most part, these are the most common holiday lights you’ll find on the market.

First, we like to use LED holiday lights, which save you money because they last longer and use less electricity than their incandescent cousins. Of course, if your lights are installed by A Better Edge, we will maintain and replace any bulbs that accidentally burn out.

Now let’s learn the difference between C-9, C-6, and 5mm holiday lights.

C-9 LED Lights

C-9 holiday lights are the most “traditional” holiday light. They have a rounded bulb shape that most people associate with holiday lights. They’re primarily used for gutters and home outlines.

They measure 1 1/4 inches in diameter and are 2 1/2 inches tall.

The bigger size means that your house will be all-a-glow, even under heavy Colorado Springs snow.

C-6 LED bulbs are smaller than C-9 versions and still have that classic strawberry bulb look.

C-6 bulbs are 3/4 inch in diameter and 1 1/8 inches tall.

Because of their smaller size, these lights are great options if you’re going for more of a crisp, clean display. They’re also great for decorating bushes and trees.

5mm LED Lights

5mm lights are perfect for highlighting trees and bushes. They’ve got a different shape from C-6 and C-9. In fact, 5mm bulbs are sometimes called wide-angle lights because they cast light in many directions.

The bulbs are generally 3/4 inch in diameter and 1 1/8 inches tall.

Because 5-mm lights can cast warm light from many angles, they’re a must-have in any display.
